Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

(Program)

Pays benefits to disabled workers under Full Retirement Age (65 to 67), and to their dependents. Benefits are paid to survivors of insured workers - widows or widowers at age 60 or later, widows/widowers at any age who have in their care entitled children under age 16 or disabled and disabled widows between ages 50 and 60 meeting disability-related requirement.
 

Eligibility: Individuals under their Full Retirement Age (65 to 67) who cannot work because of a medical condition that is expected to last at least one year or result in death
